How do I stop constantly overthinking and stressing about everything?

Sometimes I fall into that trap myself.

One solution I’ve found helpful is meditation, especially with a guided meditation approach using the app, Headspace.

There are other apps available as well. It’s a competitive market.

With Headspace, you’ll hear the same teacher in every session.

Some people prefer a variety of teachers. Not me.

It only takes seconds before the sound of the familiar voice is all it takes to trigger a relaxation response.

Pavlov’s Response in Action

There’s an option to play a new session each day. That’s how I start my morning.

It begins with a brief message on mindfulness, then the meditation follows.

You can set it for intervals from 3 to 20 minutes, but of course you can continue to meditate on your own as long as you want.

I’ve used this app for a couple of years. My current unbroken daily streak is 177 days.

Meditation is all about quieting the mind.

When you learn to do it first thing every day — it’s much easier to control a runaway mind the remainder of the day.

If you try to think your way out of overthinking by using logic and reason, that’s usually a dead end.

Try meditation instead.
