Quorg BETA out now!
For the past few months, we, a group of undergrad students, have been working on an idea we thought was super-cool. It stemmed out from an experience so general, almost always ignored. From back then, times have changed, the idea has evolved and things have progressed. What started as a project has now become a part of our daily routine. And we can’t hold the excitement. It’s out, YES, the Quorg Public Beta is out.
How we are planning to go about with the BETA Launch: Since Quorg is a “professional” instant messaging platform, we want professionals to come out and explore the power of Quorg. We want them to invite their Gmail contacts, LinkedIn connections and Office staff (with a corporate e-mail ID) so that they can get chatting, and not only chat but share relevant files such as PDFs, Word docs, Excel sheets, PPTs, etc. We are also planning to add a feature to fetch email Contacts from Phonebook in the next release.
Although we would want you to explore the application by yourself, here are a few tips you might find useful. The sign up requires the least information required to use Quorg to its full extent i.e. e-mail ID. You will be provided with 3 options — either a G+, LinkedIn or corporate account sign up. This would be chosen as your primary address, whereas you would be given options on the dashboard to add other accounts. This brings all your professional contacts to one place. We’ve tried our best to make the chat and switching between conversations as seamless as possible. With our undergrad team, we have tried a unique UI/ UX for the user, and are still iterating.
Requests — Control who you invite and who can message you. Requests are like invitations, to ensure your contact list maintains a certain exclusivity.
Introducing Clusters — the best way to prioritise contacts. These are not group chats, but labels assigned to a set of contacts based on priority and relevance, all just so that you can avoid the noise when you are spammed with 100 odd messages and know which needs to be read first.
Don’t get scared if you feel lost just as you are done with your sign up. You need contacts on Quorg in order to chat. What better way to make that happen than personally inviting them to join you on the platform. If you register through your@domain.com, then go to “Add Member” tab on the right drawer. After a while, whoever from your organisation has joined Quorg will be available to add.
Before you get started, here are a few things you should know:
1. This is a REAL beta — This means that you will be using a version of Quorg that is not stable for public release. You should be prepared to find things that don’t work perfectly, so please give us your valuable feedback on hello@quorg.in The more genuine feedback you give us, the better!
2. We’re small but growing — Right now our team is small and limited with resources. But that does not stop us, do tell us where we can improve and we will make it happen. Our app is only compatible for Android as of now.
3. We’re getting smarter — Soon we will be launching the latest tech in chat, and other necessary features in order to make your experience richer. If you want us to implement something, just drop us a mail. We would love to hear from you!
4. We like criticism — As a messaging app, we’re sure you can find a lot to criticise — remember, though, we’d prefer constructive criticism, so we can make the app better. And please send us your reviews on hello@quorg.in before posting it on your blog!
Are you an official Quorg Beta Tester? Check out your mail for the next few days to know. Although we have limited invitations, sign up on www.quorg.in if you haven’t already.
