Loneliness, Good Company and Other Needs :)

Imagine if the only calls you got were the spam ones. The only messages you got were from chatbots. The only friend request you got where men (scammers) pretending to be girls. The only person who ringed your door bell was the delivery driver.

In the name of the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful Allah

Alhamdulilillah. Praise be to Allah praise which is abundant, pure, blessed and perpetual, as our Lord loves and is pleased with. Peace and blessings be upon Muhammad ﷺ, the Messenger of Allah and the seal of the Prophets, and upon his family and companions.

Praise be to Allah. He gave us company, cured our loneliness, and provided us with the good things.

And He has provided you from the good things. Then in falsehood do they believe and in the favor of Allah they disbelieve? (Al Qur’an, the Bee, 16:72)

And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves spouses that you may find rest in them; and He made between you extreme love and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who think deeply. (Al Qur’an, the Romans, 30:21)

Allah has been kind and merciful to us. He has taken care of all our needs.

Indeed, it is Allah who is the [continual] Provider, the Possessor of power, the Firm. (Al Qur’an, Az-Zariyat, 51:58)

Praise be to Allah, the Rabb (Lord, Nourisher, Sustainer etc.) of the worlds (Al Qur’an, the Opener)

Think of food. We need food and He provides us with sustenance. We need water and He, blessed and Exalted, gives that to us.

And have you seen the water that you drink? Is it you who brought it down from the rain clouds, or is it We who bring it down? If We willed, We could have made it bitter, so why are you not grateful? (Al Qur’an, the Inevitable, 56: 68–70)

And have you seen what you cultivate? Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower? If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, then you would remain in wonder. (Al Qur’an, the Inevitable, 56: 63–65)

He gave us fruits, vegetables, sea food, red meat, spices, legumes and so forth.

Praise is to Allah, abundant, good and blessed praise, a never-ending praise, a praise that we will never bid farewell to and an indispensable praise, O our Lord.

We need company and He has given us people. Allah made for us parents, siblings and relatives through blood and marriage. He made for us spouses, children and grandchildren. He made friends, neighbors and colleagues.

And it is He who has created from water a human being and made him [a relative by] lineage and marriage. (Al Qur’an, the Criterion, 25:54)

And Allah has made for you from yourselves spouses and has made for you from your spouses sons and grandchildren and has provided you from the good things. (Al Qur’an, the Bee, 16:72)

Even though we need people and company, we should only chose good company for ourselves where possible. Let us try to find and surround ourselves with righteous souls and good people. People who will remember us of Allah and to be grateful to Him. People whose goodness will emanate to us.

Conversely, let us be wary of bad company, for they may cause us ruin. How many people have been ruined by peer pressure, ill suggestions, and bad friends?

And the Day the wrongdoer will bite on his hands [in regret] he will say, “Oh, would that I had taken with the Messenger a way. Oh, woe to me! Would that I had not taken so-and-so to myself for a (close) friend. (Al Qur’an, the Criterion, 25:27–28)

Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

A man is upon the religion of his close friend, so let one of you look at whom he takes as a close friend. (Tirmidhi 2378, who said it is Hasan Ghareeb)

Allah has taken care of our physical and material needs. Food, water, air, company, clothing, light to see, darkness to rest.. everything we need — you name it, and Allah has provided it for us.

And not only that, He has also taken care of our spiritual needs. He has taken care of our needs to know Him, find the truth, and be on the straight path.

He has put signs around us that point to His oneness, greatness, ability, power, might, wisdom, mercy and so forth.

Then do they not look at the camels — how they are created?

And at the sky — how it is raised?

And at the mountains — how they are erected?

And at the earth — how it is spread out?

So remind; you are only a reminder. (Al Qur’an, the Overwhelming, 88:17–21)

He sent Messengers and Prophets, calling people to worship Him, and not worship false gods. He sent scriptures and books to some of them, in which was admonition and light.

Indeed, We sent down the Torah, in which was guidance and light. (Al Qur’an, the Table Spread, 5:44)

And We sent, following in their footsteps, Jesus, the son of Mary, confirming that which came before him in the Torah; and We gave him the Gospel, in which was guidance and light and confirming what was before it of the Torah and as guidance and admonition for the (God) fearing. (Al Qur’an, the Table Spread, 5:46)

And messengers about whom We have related to you before and messengers about whom We have not related to you. And Allah spoke to Moses with [direct] speech. (Al Qur’an, the Women, 4:164)

Muhammad [ﷺ] is not the father of [any] one of your men, but [he is] the Messenger of Allah and seal (end, last) of the prophets. And ever is Allah , of all things, Knowing. (Al Qur’an, the Combined Forces, 33:40)

In addition, He gave us an innate pure nature [the fitrah] and an innate knowledge of God.

If a plane is crashing or the ship is drowning, even the Atheists will call out to Him. This is a proof for them that they are well aware of God, so will they not to Him submit?

It is part of human nature to be thankful for favors.

If I call you for dinner, and hand you a bag of a million dollars, its only fair you are grateful to me.

But we have more than a million dollars. Our eyesight, our hearing, our parents, spouses, sunshine, oxygen — each of these are worth more than a million dollars. They are priceless.

Every favor that we have — traces back to our Lord.

so will they not be grateful? (Al Qur’an, Yaseen, 36:35)
