Shocking Marriage Advices from a 12 Year Old

“Don’t make it too formal. Be funny but formal at the same time. Like most teachers when they have a good laugh.”

My cousin Ayaan, who gave me this advice about a month prior to my wedding, which I recorded and transcribed below.

Compliment Twice

“And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you extreme love and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who think deeply.” (Qur’an, 30:21)

“They are clothing for you and you are clothing for them.” (Qur’an, 2:187)

“Our Lord, grant us from among our spouses and coolness of eyes and make us an example for the righteous.” (Qur’an, 25:74)
