Well hello there my wee little lads and lasses. As today be the day of St. Patrick, I wanted to share a few thoughts with you.

First, let’s discuss the types of shenanigans you should not be doing today.

Subtle is key when it comes to your Irish fashion sense. No need to dye your hair green. Wear those green pants you held onto (and have worn every St. Patty’s day since 2006). Subtle.

Eating the stereotypical corned beef. Come on lads— you can do better than that for Saint Patrick. Irish cuisine is beautiful, rich, and mouth watering. Be adventurous! Eat lamb stew. Maybe some bangers and mash. Even fish and chips is a better option.

Now I know this day feels a wee bit luckier than others. As such, you’ll be on the lookout for rainbows all day. Maybe you’ll even find the mythical leprechaun. Remember though, a fishing net is not a proper leprechaun catching tool.

If you insist on finding luck on this day, go searching for a clover field. You may just find that special clover that will bring you love (which some lads would find better than luck).

Now that you are all the wiser for today, and maybe just a bit more Irish than that guy next to you on the bus, I leave you with this famous Irish blessing.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
