An adventure story in stop motion
“Missing link” is an animated movie in 2019. I watched it because it was one of the nominees of the award: “Best Animated Feature” in the Academy Awards.
I think this is a great movie, and I couldn’t believe it was a stop motion! It looks like it is just an ordinary animated film, stop motion has certainly improved a lot these days. After some research, I knew that one of the production companies in this film is Laika.
Laika makes a lot of stop motion movies, like Coraline, Paranorman, Boxtrolls, Kubo and the two strings, and Missing Link.
Plot
This film is about an adventurer named Sir Lionel Frost that went on an adventure to find the presence of a creature named Sasquatch, or Bigfoot. But after Lionel found him, he said he wants his name to be Susan. Susan told his desire of finding the yeti, who believes it is his relative. So, Lionel, Susan, and Lionel’s old lover — Adelina Fortnight went of an extremely dangerous adventure.
Characters
Sir Lionel Frost
Sir Lionel Frost is a selfish man who just wants to help himself and not others. He only agreed to help Susan is because Susan promised to help him later to join a club. This character tells us not to be selfish, and we should always help others that are desperately in need.
Susan/Mr.Link
He is a bigfoot, the last of his kind. He always makes me laugh in the movie. He gives hope when they are in danger by accidentally telling a joke. I think he is very strong and a whole lot of courage. He can accept the truth that his relatives didn’t want him to be one of them, and still acts bravely.
Adelina Fortnight
She is a brave woman that likes adventures as much as her husband does. She is smart and has ideas of surviving.
This is a film full of passion, family, and morals. We should always be grateful for what we have. I give it a rate of 9 out of 10. I am actually pretty sad when I heard that it didn’t win the academy awards, but there is always space to improve.
