The Atwater

Being aware of tenant interest for the installation of a car charger at their parking stall, the condo board attended a conference of the Regroupement des gestionnaires et copropriétaires du Québec (RGCQ) in October 2019.

The board became acquainted with Murbly at the conference. Wanting to learn how their building could evolve the board was able to leverage our tools and advice for a facilitated project.

Charging Solution

An Electrical Vehicle Energy Management System was chosen as the power source as the electrical room is in the basement. This building has indoor parking, although exterior parking would have also seen the use of an EVEMS.

Installation Approach

The buildings age affected the installation and it was more challenging than most. It was therefore necessary for all EVEMS installations to happen at one time.

Because of this, and also because of the positive response from the Tenant Survey, the board decided on the Global Partial Approach.

Set up

In fall 2019, the board issued a Request for Proposals in order to select the best contractor for the project. An Extraordinary General Meeting took place in January of 2020 and the project planned according to the chosen contractor’s submission was voted in conditionally on the Transition Énergétique Québec rebate approval. The board also took the opportunity to assess tenant interest for an electric vehicle charger installation ー nine tenants came forward.

Installation

Delays caused by the pandemic did not dampen the board’s enthusiasm. Between the 4th of March and 10th of June 2020, 14 FLO G5 chargers, 14 DCC-9–40A and 26 DCC-BOX were safely installed in the parking stalls of the building located in Montreal.
