The Hillsdale

Seeing the growing demand of the tenants wanting to have an electric car charger installed in their parking spot, the president of the board of directors of the Hillsdale co-ownership used Murbly’s tools in May 2019 to develop a charging strategy.

Charging Solution

Since the electrical room where the electric meters of the units are is located in the interior garage of the building, which means close to the parking spots, the solution of the electric energy management system (EVMS) has been adopted for the co-ownership.

Installation Approach

In order to determine which approach would be chosen, either individual of global, the board of directors have surveyed the tenant last June. The results, shared in August, revealed the tenants were leaning towards the individual approach.

Set Up

During an extraordinary general meeting in October, the board of directors, guided by the tenants will, proposed to adopt a charging policy. This policy, seeking to authorize and standardize the chargers installation in the co ownership, was voted favorably at 84%.

After setting up this policy, Murbly’s request-for-proposal template was used to choose a contractor in electricity able to take care of this kind of installation.

Installation

Once the strategy was in place, the co-ownership put together a first group of installation. Three tenants showed interest in it : a charger powered by an electric energy management system (EVMS) was then installed in each of these tenants parking. The project was completed in November.

Moving forward, tenants wishing to add Level 2 charging infrastructure can follow the details in the charging policy established by their complex.
