The Victoria
Wishing to prepare the interior and exterior parking spaces of their 58 units building, the board of directors of the Victoria used Murbly’s tools in April 2019 to plan a charging strategy.
Charging Solution
Since the electrical room with the electric meters is close to the interior parking spaces, the electric vehicle energy management system (EVEMS) solution was chosen. Given that every tenant have a parking space in the garage and that the electrical room isn’t close to the exterior parking spaces, the board of directors decided to focus on the interior ones.
Installation Approach
Considering the size of the complex and the configuration of the parking spaces, the board wanted to prepare the building to the installation of the components required to charge electric vehicles. The Global Approach was chosen and an electrical contractor was hired as consultant in May to plan an installation strategy.
Set Up
The strategy designed by the consultant included three scenarios:
Scenario 1 | Ready to install
- Addition of a wall
- Installation of a pullbox
- Installation of a ‘cantrust’ type support
Scenario 2 | Ready to install and to supply
- Addition of a wall
- Installation of the box of the power supply (DCC-9-BOX)
- Installation of a pullbox
- Installation of a ‘cantrust’ type support
Scenario 3 | Ready to charge
- Addition of a wall
- Installation of a an EVEMS (DCC-9)
- Installation of a pullbox
- Installation of a ‘cantrust’ type support
- Installation of the power cable of the charging equipment
- Installation of the charging equipment
After going over all the options proposed, the board of directors opted for the Partial Global Approach, the scenario 1. Thanks to the budgets appearing in the strategy, the votes required to go forward with the project were obtained and the installation of the structuring components could take place. An installation group was formed at the same time in which seven tenants showed interest.
Installation
Satisfied with the contractor’s work for the installation strategy, the board asked this same contractor, in August, an official quote for the installation of the components of the first scenario, including seven EV chargers. During the development of the project, an eighth tenant expressed his will to be part of the installation group. Therefore, eight EV chargers plus the necessary components have been installed in the interior parking spaces of the Victoria. The project was completed in December.
From then on, the tenants that wish to install a charging terminal in their parking space must ask the syndicate and commission the authorized contractor to make the installation conforming to the policy in place.
