Jupiter is the brightest and biggest planet of our solar system, dominating the night sky in all his splendor especially this April. You just can’t escape the beauty of the 5th planet, but besides an occasional appearance on television shows like ‘The Expanse’, we didn’t get to see much of the real Jupiter so far.

NASA was obviously thinking the same when it launched its massive probe, the size of a basketball court, back in August 2011 to take unprecedented new images of the gas giant.

The $1 billion dollar probe named Juno covered a distance of 415 million miles on its journey and indeed managed to capture Jupiter’s poles and fascinating auroras for the very first time.

Juno’s task has not been easy, that’s for sure and we need to give some Kudos to the engineer. Jupiter’s gruesome radiation belt had to be out-maneuvered 5 times to get the stunning material that’s now streamed back to us on Earth.

All the following shots have been recolored to show the full glory and vibrant nature of Jupiter. Enjoy the selection.
