CBS ordered another interesting pilot produced by The Martian author Andy Weir.

In an attempt to explore and follow NASA astronauts and scientists, Weir will handle most of the writing. Co-producing will be Slingshot Global Media’s Courtney Conte and Quan Phung. Other people involved in production are X-Men’s Simon Kinberg, Aditya Sood and Charles Eglee while CBS Television Studios is becoming the main producer.

The Martian was one of 2015’s best sci-fi entries, giving Weir the possibility to use his science background to make Mark Watney’s journey a realistic and imaginative ride.

Now that Weir has time to pack many more ideas into an all new TV series, you can expect the pilot called Mission Control to be an action-packed, one hour-long drama with enough storytelling to back it up.

Let’s hope it does work out well, as Weir tries to “portray the personal and professional lives [of astronauts] during a critical mission with no margin for error.”
