Star Trek Discovery gets final release window
13 all-new episodes of Star Trek should be happening any time now! The Discovery is finally expected to warp full speed ahead rather sooner than later as Les Moonves, Mr. Admiral of CBS himself, recently spoke to investors at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference.
Beamed onto your preferred screen and assuming you already registered for CBS All Access, the starship is ready to leave the drydock “sometime late summer, early fall”.
Originally planned for release in January, then May, the vessel obviously was experiencing unforeseen issues and was delayed by a couple of months after its Captain and showrunner, Bryan Fuller, jumped the ship and casting became troublesome.
However, production on Star Trek: Discovery went full steam ahead and the latest cast additions were announced recently.
In case you’re interested, here’s what Moonves said about the delay:
“It’s important to get it right, and Star Trek is the family jewels. We’re not going to rush it in. There’s a lot of post production. But I’m very confident based on what I’ve seen so far. There are millions and millions of Trekkies out there. We know for a fact that the other versions of Star Trek — there were seven other series, some of them were great and some of them were terrible — they all did really well on Netflix. That gave us great confidence that this was the right choice to put the full court press on All Access.”
CBS has also released a trailer for “Star Trek: Discovery” that gives a first look at some of the series’ costumes, makeup and sets. Enjoy it … and “live long and prosper”.
