Growing up in Brazil and living in New York seems like a very good starting position for creative art. Here’s Ji Lee, a Korean designer who experienced life on these very different continents and a man who firmly believes that ideas are worth nothing unless you take action.

He’s pushing himself to produce fabulous work full of creativity and passion, to get the otherwise meaningless ideas out of his head and onto the (digital) paper.

Many books have been published and lots of exhibitions held, all showing the richness of his gifted mind. One fascinating collection, in particular, is recapping the years he has already put into calligrams: Word as Image.

By graphically arranging words and illustrating their meaning as a concept, he’s able to capture the essence of famous movies, cities, personalities and even various objects using as few symbols and letters as possible.
