As multiple sources now found out — Trico, you know — this gigantic chimera — half bird, half dog, is seemingly ‘farting’ deadly streams of lighting out of its tail — at least that’s what made the round in my office building.

Seriously, finally there is more than just a stream of lighting, but a stream of few details about this lovely odd game, that has been seemingly in the making like forever.

You might have been in your teens when the first screenshots arrived as it obviously was more than a PS3 could ever handle. From what I hear now — it’s becoming increasingly clear, why it needed this new generation of PlayStation to show Trico’s full potential.

But Trico’s ‘arts of formidable powers and thunder’ isn’t the only news. In the latest issue of Edge, as reported by GamesRadar, Sony further revealed that:

“Trico’s ability is linked to a mirror picked up by the boy which is wielded like a shield. Point the shield in a direction and the creature will fire a devastating bolt of red electricity.”

This will be a vital element throughout the game, according to Director Fumito Ueda. Ueda-San then went on to explain why he gave Trico the power to begin with.

“There are several reasons why I explored this idea, but one of them is to make players understand the force and ferocity of Trico,” he said. “I believe things are more attractive when there’s a bit of oddness to them, rather than something being normal and appearing to be generally acceptable. The same thing can be said about Trico’s appearance.”

Edge was also writing about how Trico’s eyes will change color depending on how it feels–if its eyes are pink, it is wary or angry. Additionally, Trico’s feathers will stand on end when it becomes angry.

Creative director Fumito Ueda on bringing believably to The Last Guardian’s mythical creature.

These are good signs after all the years of speculation. You might recall Sony’s E3 2015 briefing to announce that The Last Guardian, which was originally revealed in 2009 as a PS3 title, had shifted to PS4.

The game developed by Sony Japan Studio and genDESIGN is still slated to launch sometime in 2016, though a specific release date has not been announced yet.

Let’s hope that the stream of news about this great game, that’s pushing what is ‘generally acceptable’ keeps on flowing. Story-heavy games, especially set in a world full of Japanese-style fantasy, friendship and adventure are hard to come by these days.
