When it came back before it was an “event series”. Now it’s just a “series”, but The X-Files will get a new 10-episode run. Fox officially announced that production is set to start this summer.

Good scripts have always been the foundation of the industry and you can think what you want about the creative state of FOX (no pun intended), commercially, it did very well. Chris Carter still is the visionary responsible for The X-Files, Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny will be on board, as well.

Fox president David Madden commented on the 11th season: “Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators — these are the hallmarks of great TV shows. And they are some of the reasons why The X-Files has had such a profound impact on millions of fans worldwide […] “Chris’ creativity, along with the brilliant work of David and Gillian, continue to propel this pop culture phenomenon, and we can’t wait to see what fresh mysteries Mulder and Scully uncover in this next chapter of The X-Files.”

As Season 10 ended, we were left with one of the most disappointing finales ever. After years of waiting, real Aliens finally seemed to show up on Earth… a planet in complete panic mode and Mulder presumably dying. That’s not how you close The X-Files.

However, the new season is nigh and addiction will surely take over.
