Instagram — Theme/Borders/Look

Stepping up my look/theme

Ok, I’ve read a lot about Instagram Themes which, as I understand it, is about the look of one’s instagram. I’ve struggled with that.

Check out what I’m talking about here.

This is what I was thinking before:
— Content is content.
— They add up to a lot individually, but it doesn’t matter how you see them as a group.
— Each one is great!
— The caption/comments are pretty good, that should be enough.
— I’m getting good likes/comments/interaction, that should be enough.

They are colorful, they have faces, they have calls to action. They have all the stuff, at least I think, but I don’t feel like I’m doing my best work. So I’m gonna try something else. I mean, why not?

What am I doing now?

Ok, presuming that I’m going to take a different approach, what do I do differently?

While each piece of comment was pretty good, I’m trying to be a little more intentional, and at least do something connected with them.

As a result, I’m experimenting with placing borders around everything, even slightly, and I’m trying to use white space to create a look.

Why white?

Its everywhere, if I screenshot stuff, there is likely white somewhere. Seems to make sense to me.

This is what the last few posts (including today’s) look like:

Yes, I see that there are two coffee posts.

Thin white border (2pt) and the empty space from my various Medium articles (Rabbi Jeremy Markiz). Looks pretty good!

Still early, but that is why I like it.

One thing that I’ve thought about is quotes, TONS of people post them. For me, there hasn’t been that much positive response, so I’m reticent to try it and seem inauthentic. However, I do plan on using them in Instagram stories, that feels much more like me.

We’ll see!

Thanks for reading!
