At EQuity, our existence as a social venture means we are constantly thinking about how we can continue our work of advancing racial justice by developing emotional intelligence in a way that is socially beneficial. Although we achieve financial sustainability through sharing our expertise with clients, it’s equally important we provide our insights and knowledge in an equitable and accessible format.

To that point, we are excited to announce the debut of Race + Emotions. Race + Emotions is a digital publication hosted on Medium that we hope will serve as a repository of essays written at the intersection of racial justice and emotional intelligence. Anti-Blackness, white supremacy, and racial inequality are emotionally charged topics that impact our lives — and emotional health — whether we acknowledge it or not. By sharing how we are uniquely impacted and navigating the emotional impact of racism, we believe we have an opportunity to heal by writing and teach by sharing.

While we will continue to write and share our thoughts, we hope this will be a community project wherein members of the EQuity community can have a platform to have their experiences and perspectives amplified. We hope your stories, essays, poetry, and written projects will reflect the depth and diversity of our community. We hope to role model that everyone who is a part of this project is both a teacher and a learner.

So what is the best way to engage with Race + Emotions?

  1. Sign up for our weekly newsletter to be the first to receive our weekly releases!
  2. Clap, comment, and share on Medium. We understand Medium may by a new platform for some of you. By clapping, committing, and sharing, you’ll be able to actively engage with our work, and amplify our platform and writers.
  3. Consider contributing. Email EQuity to review our submission guidelines and pitch a topic.

As we continue to think of how to expand our reach and share our vision, we hope you celebrate and support this new project!
