The goGIRL women only, 5k run and beach party takes place at Brighton & Hove this July (12th), and to celebrate its return this summer, we spoke to Goldline Events, founders of goGIRL about the event.
Set against Brighton & Hove seafront, the event is inviting women to run or walk the 5k fun run on the warm Friday evening before enjoying bags of entertainment in what is definitely a party! And what better backdrop than the coast!
What is goGirl?
goGIRL is a totally unique race for girls along the stunning Brighton & Hove coastline. A 5k out and back course that finishes on Hove Lawns where there is food, entertainment and a chance to enjoy a summer evening with friends and family (all welcome for post-race party!)
How did it come about?
Literally from a conversation about races and what they achieve. We realised that there was nothing to cater for girls only but we didn’t want to exclude other members of the family. So goGIRL was created so girls can run together and then celebrate and party with everyone afterwards!
Why does it appeal?
For some, running with fellow women is a big factor; for others on their running journey, to do a first race in a welcoming and supportive environment is important. Whether it’s your 1st or your 101st race, there’s something for everyone, and the fact you can party on afterwards is always popular with runners and supporters alike.
What level of fitness do you need to be at to take part?
Any! goGIRL is open to those who wish to sprint and those who wish to walk. It’s all about the taking part and celebrating the achievement at the end!
What three words describe the event?
Fun, social, friendly
