October Reading Plans
doing things a little differently around here
October all but promises to be a heavy reading month. Not only is it the season that my heart longs for, but there’s so many readathons and spooky goodness in written form in general.
I’m going to be doing things a little differently this month here at rachellareads.
For one, I’m discontinuing the weekly logs. I may bring them back in November. Right now, I just feel like it might be a little overwhelming to sit down each Monday and type about the books I competitively read that week.
In their place, I’ll be doing short reviews for individual books. I may write more reviews and try to submit to other publications. If I do, I will include a list of where I’ve published.
My reading style changes when I read competitively versus when I read for enjoyment. It’s more hurried and less careful. It’s more like watching a competitive eating contest than being mindful of your meals. It’s rushed and therefore, often times I don’t enjoy the process quite as much. I also might miss some things that upon reread, I’d wonder why I didn’t touch on that.
I have tried in the past to log during competitive months. It wasn’t enjoyable and I burnt out doing it. I’d rather provide a few good reviews than nothing at all.
At the end of the month, I’ll be doing a recap of five star reads. I don’t know if there will be a lot or a few of these this month.
For my TBR, I’m going to share five books that I’m really looking forward to this month. Five that are pretty much locked in.
I hope everyone has a frightfully spooky reading month.
