I thought I had dodged the pandemic bullet, but I tested positive for Covid-19 on January 3rd, 2023.

As we’ve been in this pandemic for over two years at this point, I had assumed I had already been infected at some point and was asymptomatic, but maybe not.

It was my fault. I went to a New Year’s Eve party at a bowling alley with a good hundred other people. I’ve been vaccinated and boosted four times, but I did not wear a mask.

I had a false sense of security that if I was going to get it, I would’ve by now.

Not the case. As a former Covid-19 Contact Tracer, you’d think I would be more cautious, but I wasn’t.

How bad is it?

I’ve been vaccinated and boosted so it is likely my symptoms aren’t as bad as for an unvaccinated person.

I’d rate it as a bad cold from my personal experience.

I have a 100.3F fever, a terrible headache, congestion, and chills. I’ve been sleeping for most of the day and I feel winded if I walk around too much. My eyes black out more easily than usual if I get up too quickly.
