The Charlotte/white supremacists stories in the mainstream media are all “New rise in racism–Hate is bad — etc.” but nobody’s talking about the elephant in the room.

The basic, obvious, important fact that’s gone unreported is that saying, “I’m great because I’m white” is equivalent to saying, “I’m a big, fat loser.”

Racism is something that people who feel inferior and weak grab onto like a guy who can’t swim clutching a life preserver.

The people who run around proclaiming how terrific they are because they’re white do that because white skin is all they’ve got. That’s it. Sadly, they’ve never done anything with their lives that they can honestly be proud of.

It’s pathetic.

And what makes it even worse is they don’t realize that everybody else knows that every time they say: “I’m great because I’m white” what they’re really saying is: “Hey, white skin is all I’ve got. I’m actually just a big, fat loser.”

They’re like the guy who thinks that his pickup line “I’ve got a really big dick” is absolutely terrific and wonders why women run in the other direction then turn around and point at him and laugh.

It’s really sad when people are that clueless.

Look, when Tiger Woods blew up the world of golf he didn’t go around saying, “I did it because I’m black” because he didn’t need to. He had real talent to talk about.

When Einstein arrived at Princeton he didn’t start out each interview with “Jews Rule!” He had real accomplishments to talk about.

When Jobs and Wozniak built Apple, when Hewlett and Packard created HP, when Page and Brin started Google, when Elon Musk founded Tesla none of them said: “We did it because we’re white.”

Talented people who actually do great things don’t need to attribute their success to a the color of their skin.

Where you run into trouble is with people who have no talent, no skills, and who aren’t very smart. The color of their skin is all they’ve got. Beyond that, they’re out.

If you studied the people who make up the racist, white supremacist, neo-Nazi movement what would you find? Have many of them done anything admirable? Have many of them invented anything, built anything, discovered anything, created anything? Have any material percentage of them risen to the top levels of business, academia, whatever, on extraordinary talent or intelligence?

Do you think you’re going to find the next Newton or Salk in the ranks of the racists? The next Zuckerberg? The next Edison? No, of course not, because only losers have to pretend that their value comes from the color of their skin. People with real talent don’t have to do that.

If you’re a no-talent Joe Sixpack and you want to feel more important than you deserve, what can you do to pump up your ego?

If the only thing you’ve got is the color of your skin, then you try to cheat your way up the ladder by saying: “I’m great because I’m white and you’re not. Everybody in the line ahead of me who’s not a white Christian, step out so that I can move, way, way ahead.”

Hey, NO CUTS.

It’s a cheat that lets some unemployed fry cook lie to himself that he’s better than Mark Zuckerberg because he’s not Jewish and that he’s better than Tiger Woods because he’s not black.

But ask him to actually do something that proves he’s better than Tiger Woods or Mark Zuckerberg and he’s got nothing. He’s out.

“Yeah, I’m making minimum wage mopping the floor at the Walmart but I’m better than Kenneth Frazier, the CEO of Merck because he’s black and I’m white.”

Really? Other than your racist friends, who’s dumb enough to buy that story?

“Yeah,” the racist tells himself, “people will never figure out that I’m just trying to paper over the fact that I’m a minimum-wage, no-talent, nobody who’s done nothing worthwhile with his life.”

Sure, nobody will ever crack that code.

Worse than that, the thing that the racists are claiming makes them better than people who have real accomplishments and real talent is something they’re not even responsible for.

They didn’t design their white skin. Hell, they didn’t even choose to be born white.

It was a pure accident of birth.

They’re like the woman who is always telling people, “I have fantastic cheekbones.”

Hey, you can’t take credit for those. You have a great tennis backhand? You can take credit for that. You can make a super-fantastic lasagna? Wow, you can absolutely take credit for that.

You have white skin? Sorry, no credit at all unless you got it by paying a dermatologist to do a super fantastic bleach job on you.

In the late 1920s Germany was a mess. They had lost the war. They had been forced to accept a humiliating and crushing peace treaty. Runaway inflation, political instability, and massive reparations had shattered the country.

Hitler recognized the population’s feelings of defeat, fear, inferiority, and depression. He knew that the German people desperately wanted something that would pump up their egos, something that would make them feel better about themselves. He had a nation who felt like a bunch of losers. How could he make then proud again?

His answer was racism. “You’re the best just because you’re you. And by the way, the Jews are the worst just because they’re them.”

Of course it worked. It cost nothing. No took no real effort, no work, no sacrifice, no accomplishments, no talent. Nobody had to do anything. It required no proof, just a few words — “Whites are great and Aryan whites are the best of the best.”

It was a really cheap and easy fix. That’s why it worked so well.

They just snapped their fingers and suddenly they could pretend that they went from last place to first. Easy peasy. Of course, it was a total cheat. Getting something without working for it is always a cheat.

Now we’ve got another bunch of ordinary people trying to cheat their way to a place at the front of the line that they aren’t smart enough or talented enough to earn with their own work, talent or intelligence.

A gambler may look like a terrific poker player until you catch him pulling aces out of his sleeve, then you realize that he’s just a no-talent cheat.

It’s that way with racists. Once you’re on to the fact that they’re just trying to cheat their way to the head of the line you realize that every “Thank God I’m White” t-shirt is really just the admission: “White skin is all I’ve got. Beyond that, I’m just a big, fat loser.”
