Anne Hale Miglarese of Radiant Earth Foundation presented with the Coastal GeoTools Visionary Award
“[Ms. Miglarese’s] vision of a working community that furthers the safety and stability of our coastal communities and our nation has been a resounding success.”
Coastal GeoTools is the United States’ premier conference dedicated to technology and the coastal environment. Held since 1999, the biennial event is a must-attend learning experience for officials and scientists from all sectors. As part of this sellout conference’s twentieth anniversary, Anne Hale Miglarese, the GeoTools founder, was honored.
“In today’s changing climate, the relevance of this conference continues to increase,” says Nicholas Schmidt, a NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) employee, and a conference organizer. “Anne’s vision of a working community that furthers the safety and stability of our coastal communities and our nation has been a resounding success.”
Miglarese received the “Coastal GeoTools Visionary Award” during a plenary session at the 2019 conference, where speakers noted how Miglarese’s drive and passion continue to make a difference in the geospatial industry both domestically and internationally.
At the conference, Miglarese was the keynote speaker, inspiring those in the audience with her visionary abilities and experiences as she talked about technology, the environment, and the future on a global scale. She also participated in a retrospective panel, where technology leaders and practitioners focused on the journey of the past twenty years and offered suggestions for what lies ahead.
Coastal GeoTools 2019 was held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, February 11–14. While NOAA initiated the conference, it has been hosted by the Association of State Floodplain Managers since 2015.
