Back at McCoy!

Taxi-Squad in action in Pawtucket

Well, not back at McCoy, but that’s a catchy headline. I’ve been at the park many times the last two months working as a server for “Dining on the Diamond.” But, back at McCoy Stadium for some baseball. Last year, I filled in for Mike Monaco on PawSox broadcasts and did a few games at McCoy Stadium. It was really nice to be in the home broadcast booth on Saturday, gaze out to the hot sun-splashed diamond, and take in Boston’s taxi-squad workout. The field was in mid-season form, but that’s nothing new for Matt McKinnon (Head Groundskeeper) and his crew. The day started around 11ish. The players stretched, threw, and took part in a sim-game around 1:05. Mike Shawaryn pitched the top of the inning, followed by Domingo Tapia. The same hitters took part. Boston only has five position players right now at McCoy Stadium: Jeter Downs, Jarren Duran, Josh Ockimey, Jhonny Pereda, and Connor Wong. Pitchers: R.J. Alvarez, Jay Groome, Tanner Houck, Mike Kickham, Bryan Mata, Bobby Poyner, Mike Shawaryn, and Domingo Tapia.

Wow, the field looks amazing
