Day 2 in Ft. Myers — Spring Training update (Morning Report)

I arrived in Ft. Myers late Sunday afternoon. Yesterday was a Camp Day for the entire minor leagues, so mainly a day off. Some of the minor league players worked out in the morning, and everyone finished by the afternoon. I had a chance to catch up with Sea Dogs 2017 MVP Jeremy Barfield, who is spending his first Spring Training in Ft. Myers. Barfield was a non-roster invitee to Red Sox Major League camp but was recently re-assigned to the minors side. On Saturday, he hit a walk-off in Pawtucket’s 2–1 Spring Training game.
Schedule for today: Pawtucket and Portland are playing at the Twins camp at 1 PM. The A-ball teams stay back and host the Twins at jetBlue Park.

Sea Dogs Notes

  • 25 Days until the 25th Season opens at Hadlock Field. Tickets available.
  • Great article on ’17 alum Bobby Poyner, who has a chance to make the Red Sox bullpen.
  • Opening Day for Portland is April 5th at Binghamton. There’s a chance Tim Tebow could be playing for the Rumble Ponies.
