Day 4 in Ft. Myers, familiar names at JetBlue

The Sea Dogs and PawSox played their minor league games at Tampa Bay’s complex in Port Charlotte. I decided to stay back and get a glimpse of some future Sea Dogs at the jetBlue complex. To my surprise, Eduardo Rodriguez (85 pitches, 59 strikes) and Christian Vazquez played in one of the A-ball games.

There was no doubt something major was happening at the complex. Upon arrival to the backfields, I saw Dave Dombrowski, John Farrell, Jason Varitek Tim Wakefield and Carl Willis in attendance. Often when the Red Sox have a day off or a night game, a few major leaguers will get work in a minor-league contest.

What’s next: The Red Sox are home tomorrow against Pittsburg. Pawtucket and the Sea Dogs host Bowie — the complex will be packed.

Notes from back home: Only 15 days until first pitch for the 2017 season. Sea Dogs take on the Reading Fightin Phils at Hadlock Field.
