GLAD TO BE HOME: The Sea Dogs open up a four-game series against the Reading Fightin Phils on Thursday night at Hadlock…Portland has lost six straight, their longest losing streak since last July 1–5…Portland has scored just 3 runs in their last 50 innings and snapped a 33-inning scoreless drought on Tuesday night…The ‘Dogs went 1–7 on the road portion of their trip, but went 1–8 overall, losing a suspended game from Hadlock Field on June 25th, before the roadtrip opener on July 11th at NYSEG Stadium.
‘CATS COMPLETE SWEEP: Portland was shutout twice during a three-game sweep of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats…On Wednesday night, Ryan Tepera (8–6) tossed eight scoreless frames on five hits, no walks and seven strikeouts, as New Hampshire won 4–0…Michael Almanzar and Peter Hissey each had two hits for Portland…The ‘Cats scored three times off losing pitcher Keith Couch (6–3) in the fourth inning…Kevin Ahrens, A.J. Jimenez, Ryan Schimpf and Brian Van Kirk had RBI’s for New Hampshire…Tepera retired 24 of 28 batters faced.
