Edgar Renteria (1995) — Renteria was just 18 years old when he played in Portland, hitting .289, 7 HR, 68 RBI and seven triples in 135 games…He ended up playing 16 seasons in the Majors with Florida, St. Louis, Boston, Atlanta, Detroit, San Francisco and Cincinnati.

Alex Gonzalez (1996–97) — Gonzalez had a short stint with Portland in 1996 and appeared in 133 games with the ‘Dogs in 1997, hitting 19 homers in 133 games…Gonzalez was a terrific defensive player, appearing in over 1600 Major Leagues, including 44 with Boston in 2009.

Hanley Ramirez (2004–05) — Ramirez was the Top Prospect in the Red Sox system in 2004–05…He played in just 20 games in 2004, but was an All-Star in Portland’s terrific 2005 season…Ramirez was part of the Mike Lowell trade and has appeared in over 1,600 Major League games.

Jed Lowrie (2007) — Lowrie was known for his plate discipline in Portland, drawing 65 walks in 93 games…He hit .297 with the ‘Dogs in 2007 and rehabbed with Portland in 2009…Currently, he’s a constant part of the Oakland A’s lineup.

Jose Iglesias (2010) — Iglesias’ minor debut came with Portland in 2010, after playing professionally in Cuba…Jose hit .285 with the Sea Dogs but is known as one of the best defensive players in team history.

Xander Bogaerts (2012–13) — Bogaerts joined Portland in 2012 at just 19 years old, appearing in 23 games…In ’13, Xander began the season in Portland and ended up playing in Pawtucket and Boston…He’s currently Boston’s everyday SS.
