Sim City in Pawtucket!

Broadcast team back for a second day

I can speak for my broadcast partners Josh Maurer and Jim Cain, we feel very blessed to be broadcasting baseball again. For the second straight day, we brought you the sites and sounds live on Facebook Live and Twitter.

The plan was for a 7-inning sim-game at McCoy Stadium, but it last five innings. Before the game, Darwinzon Hernandez threw a live-batting practice session; meaning he threw to batters without anyone in the field. Hernandez looked sharp and will have a couple of days off.

The start of the day was Jarren Duran. He picked up two hits, including a 428-foot homer to dead center. He also made a nice running catch off the bat of Yairo Munoz.

In addition to the blast by Duran, Marco Hernandez and Munoz each went deep. Hernandez has been swinging a hot bat during the Alternate Camp.

Kyle Hart worked five innings in the top half of the frames. In the bottom halves, Mike Kickham, Robinson Leyer, and Caleb Simpson took turns on the mound. Kickham looked very sharp in his two innings of work.

From the PawSox Twitter “We mourn the passing of longtime General Manager, and our dear friend, Lou Schwechheimer.” I had a chance to chat with Lou back in April for a team podcast, he couldn’t have been a nicer guy. I’m in shock that he’s no longer with us. Tough day.

Thursday is an off day, back at it on Friday and we’ll have the broadcast live at 4 PM.
