Sending Discord Invites Thru Your Desktop

So you are part of a Discord server — an online community centered around a particular hobby or interest. You are really enjoying the community — like the one we have at RadishNFT — and you want more of your friends to join you there.

But how do they join if Discord servers are invitation only? It’s simple and you will see the steps below for inviting users through Discord’s desktop interface.

From your desktop follow these easy steps.

Step 1
Enter your favorite Discord server. In our case this would be RadishNFT.

Step 2
It’s possible you have restricted access within the Discord server. Ensure you are in a channel that is open to new members when they join. In the case of RadishNFT, you can use the #community-chat channel before moving to step 3.

Step 3
Go to the top of the category/channel column and click the drop down next to the server name (in our case to the right of ‘RadishNFT’).

Step 4
Select ‘invite people’ in the dropdown menu.

Step 5
The screen below presents a number of options. Discord seemingly pre-populates the block with Discord friends, people with whom you’ve messaged, and even users you have responded to publicly in server channels. You can simply click ‘invite’ next to each name and they will be invited to the server from which you are sending the invitation.

Another option is to click the ‘copy’ button and it will automatically add the invitation link to your clipboard where you can use the paste function in an email, a text, or any other communication platform you use.

Perhaps the most important takeaway from this step is altering the ‘edit invite link’. Unless you click this link, any invitations you copy and paste or automatically send to the pre-populated names, will expire in 7 days.

Because we understand users are busy and sometimes it takes more than a week to join, click on the ‘edit invite link’.

Step 6
Click the drop down next to ‘7 days’

Step 7
Select ‘never’ from the dropdown menu.

Step 8
Click ‘Generate a New Link’.

Step 9
Notice the link at the bottom of the window now states, ‘Your invite link will never expire.’ Repeat Step 5.

You are now ready to send out invitations and share the Discord community you love with others.
