LA-by-way-of-Atlanta metalcore outfit, Tetrarch

As someone who grew up in a scene that resembled me by only our shared tastes in music, the story of Tetrarch and their lead guitarist, Diamond Rowe, is one I understand well and admire greatly.

“I’ve always been kind of weird,” says Rowe. “Weird in the sense that I’ve never been your stereotypical African-American girl — I’m into metal, I love motocross. I’ve met a lot of people through being different, and I found myself. Freak is actually a perfect title.”

Tetrarch’s debut full-length, Freak — a title that feels like the perfect homage to my childhood — redefines your expectations from genres resuscitated from the early 2000s. With chunky metallic riffing, restrained and thoughtful solo’s, and bludgeoning beats, their self-funded release leans much more Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine than Korn or Mudvayne. Having shared the stage with the likes of Avenged Sevenfold, Seether, and Alter Bridge, we’re eager for Tetrarch to bring the spirit and vigor of Freak to life. If their YouTube is any indication, polish off those devil horns, because they’ll be getting some renewed air.

Saturday, February 16th at Geno’s Rock Club they’ll be bringing their Freak-on with the devastating grace and style only matched by Portland hardcore contemporaries, Devil’s Nite Out and Ruin.

Devil’s Nite Out is a 4-piece Maine staple, forming in 2015 and playing a unique fusion of rock, hardcore, and metal, drawing influence from Pantera, Coal Chamber, and As I Lay Dying. Not to be outdone, Portland thrash metal outfit, Ruin, will be bringing their precision, articulation, and discipline with their devastatingly raw live show.

Rad Plaid is stoked to be part of bringing Tetrarch to our big little city of Portland. Grab tickets while you still can.
