Developers, designers, product owners, marketing… We all face increasing pressure to build better, faster, more. Exceptional experience design is more crucial than ever to stand out in our hyper-competitive market. And yet we often end up creating one-off solutions without much thought to experience or design. Building products this way isn’t scalable, lacks foundation, creates technical debt and leads to one of our worst enemies: inconsistency.

So, how do we beat this inconsistency? How can our design and development teams work together to create scalable solutions? Introducing… Zoom: Raet’s Design System.

Why you need a design system in your life

Zoom was created to bridge the gap between design and development. A living, breathing set of standards that evolve as our products do. Think of it as a hub, with everything you need to build Raet products.

With Zoom

- A single source of answers. Developers, POs and designers are often confronted with conflicting information, and it’s hard to track down the right version. But instead of asking the same questions over and over again (What are our colors? What’s the right way to use this component?, What date format do we use?), Zoom serves as a single source of answers. Forget about digging through Confluence!

- Reduced inconsistency. Products become increasingly chaotic and inconsistent as they grow, and new designers/developers add their own ideas to the mix. Plus, keeping features and designs synchronized across our multiple products requires significant effort, leading to repeated, unaligned work across different platforms. Zoom is designed to reduce this inconsistency. It is our shared visual language for designing and developing consistent products with foundations understood by everyone.

- Faster onboarding. Every time someone new joins the team, they can hit the ground running with a full set of building blocks (colors, typography, components…), and rules for creating consistent experiences quickly.

- A new-and-improved UI Library. Developers will have access to all components they need to build, plus the current rules and best practices.

- Less decision-making. The hard decisions have already been made, once. Zoom will free-up teams to focus on solving actual customer problems.

Tell us what you think!
