My Personal List of Recommended Sessions for Czech Dreamin’ 2022

One week today sees Czech Dreamin’ taking place in Prague. I will be at this event for the first time and will have the opportunity to speak on the topic of Skills for Success, which is tied to the Admin Skills set released by Salesforce at Dreamforce ’21. On a quick personal note, Prague has been a place I’ve wanted to go and visit for a number of years, so it really has worked out well to not only visit Prague, but to attend and speak at a great event for the Trailblazer Community to boot. If you’re going to be there, make sure to say hello, I’d love to meet you and get to know you a little bit.

In this post I will be providing you a list of my top eight sessions to go and check out. These sessions are listed based on my subjective opinion, however they are listed through the methodology I listed in my recent post highlighting what’s going over these next 5 weeks. So there is a bit of a method to my madness in this post. Please do also bear in mind that there are many other great sessions that you can check out at this event, this list of mine is not to be an authoritative list, rather it is a list of sessions that I personally think are great and well worth checking out. So shall we get on with the list then?

Process Automation Revisited - From Chaos to Structure

You know me by now, I love Process Automation! Particularly Flow. In this session Paweł Dobrzynski will take us through some tips and tricks to avoid the inevitable clutter that will come from maintaining an org with lots of declarative automation that isn’t maintained according to best practices. This comes very highly recommended from me as with all of the work going on to eventually retire Workflow Rules and Process Builder, Admins should be looking to prioritise learning Flow and migrating their existing automation currently in Workflow Rules and Process Builder to Flow.

Everything You Need To Know About Dynamic Forms

Up next is a session about what is honestly one of in my opinion, one of the most promising features to come out for Salesforce during my time in the ecosystem, Dynamic Forms. In this session Christine Marshall will be going over Dynamic Forms, what it is and how you can use it in your orgs to the benefit of your end users. With the updated roadmap for Dynamic Forms that we received very recently showing how we will be (hopefully) getting some level of functionality for Standard Objects in the Winter ’23 release this coming Autumn (or Fall), this session has never been more relevant than it is right now. And just to encourage you a little bit on this session, I’ve seen an earlier version of this session before, and it’s really good. So why not go to it?

Approach Reporting Like Never Before

The next session I want to highlight is Evan Ponter’s session on report types. Reporting is something every Admin does over and over again, reporting is one of the staple tasks of the Salesforce Administrator role. Being billed as the Ultimate Guide to Report Types, this session will see Evan take us through a journey to help us build amazing reports that will seriously wow our users and stakeholders. Tell me you as an Admin that you don’t want to know how to build killer reports like that? Seriously, this is a session worth checking out.

Is a Hamburger a Sandwich? Architecting a Salesforce App

I don’t know if I’ve actually mentioned this on the blog just yet. But one of the things I’m working on with what free time I get (that isn’t a lot right now tbh) is a Salesforce app designed for churches. So when I saw from the line up that one of my favourite people in the Trailblazer Community, Salesforce MVP Melissa Hill-Dees, was going to be delivering a session on how to architect a Salesforce app, I knew it was immediately going to be on my list of sessions to highlight. In this session Melissa will raise the discussion of how do we get the most out of building top-quality solutions in the Salesforce platform.

All about Salesforce certifications: Are they worth it?

It’s a debate as old as Salesforce it seems, but do you need to be certified in order to succeed in the Salesforce ecosystem? I certainly have my views on the topic, maybe you do too. In this session, Tomáš Hnízdil, a self-professing Salesforce geek with 13 certifications will take us through that question. If you’re attending Czech Dreamin’ and are new to the ecosystem or are trying to encourage your company to put you up for a certification then this session would be worth adding to your list. It should prove very enlightening for sure.

Tackle Your Everyday Business Problems Like an Architect

Next on my list is this session with Melissa Shepherd. While you might not be an Architect yourself (I’m not) you will find this session extremely beneficial. See there’s something very powerful about being able to tap into parts of other roles in your life as a Salesforce Professional. This was a lesson I learnt the hard way as a Solo Admin in my previous role. As a Solo Admin you end up having to wear many of the hats worn by different career paths. In this session Melissa will take us through the concept of not just problem solving the issue that is right in front of us, but of thinking through the bigger picture, resulting in us coming with a bit of knowledge about how to approach the task of building solutions a little more like a Salesforce Architect.

Start Building Slack Apps for Salesforce Now

In the penultimate session on the list we go to one of the products owned by the Salesforce family that I have a bit of interest in to say the least, Slack. Here, Todd Halfpenny will show us how to build a Slack app using Slack’s Bolt SDK, how to architect it and how to implement it successfully. While this topic is a bit more niche right now, I do honestly feel that content on Slack is going to become much more necessary in the community (hint, hint, I think Slack will someday replace Chatter). So why not get ahead of the curve and check out this session from Todd. I’m sure you won’t regret attending it.

Speed Up Your Org with Before Save Flows & Platform Events

Last but not least, we have this session from Narender Singh. In this session, Narender will guide us through how we can speed up Lightning by leveraging Before-Save Flows (Fast Field Updates) and Platform Events. If you’re having issues with the speed of your org (come on, it does happen in Lightning), then this session is one that is well worth you checking out. Admittedly I’m biased because this is one focused on Flow, nevertheless as a Salesforce Admin this is one that you would benefit greatly from checking out. Trust me on that one.

Closing Remarks

So that’s my list of recommended sessions for Czech Dreamin’. If you’re going to be there, tell me which sessions you’re most looking forward to. Did I miss one that piques your interest? If so, let me know in the responses below or in the comments on social media when I share this post on LinkedIn and Twitter.

If you’re going to be there, hit me up, I’d love to meet you and say hello.
