PakDreamin’ 2022 is on the Horizon, Here’s 13 Sessions to Check Out

PakDreamin’ Swag … Image sourced from Twitter.

PakDreamin’ launched last year, it was the first Trailblazer event of its kind for Pakistan … this year its back and it happens one week from today. I had the great pleasure of speaking twice at last year’s event, this year I will be doing the same, delivering two sessions, both of which are focused on Flow.

The sessions I will be delivering are:

  • Orchestrator or Subflows: Which Way Do I Go?
  • Supercharge Slack with Flow Actions in Salesforce

Before I dive in to today’s post, I just want to quickly highlight that this year I will be speaking at Dreamforce. There I will be delivering a session that is an amalgamation of my sessions on Orchestrator and Slack Actions in Flow. Essentially creating a bit of a mega-session on Flow … all in 40 minutes.

Now, for this post, here I will be highlighting 13 sessions I think are worth you checking out at PakDreamin this year. As per usual, this is based solely on my subjective opinion and is not an extensive list. Prior to writing this post, I had 20 sessions on my list and trimmed it down to the 13 you’re getting here.

Once again I have employed my usual methodology for ordering out the list of sessions. This methodology is based on a set of scores covering accessibility, relevance, and a wild card score. The total score being what defines the order of the list for the sessions in this list, with the list being in a descending order.

So with all that being said, let’s now dive in to the list.

5 Tips Every Salesforce Admin Needs in 2022

A session like this will often top any list I make for these events. Why is this? It’s because these types of sessions are accessible at all levels of the Admin role, and are relevant across the board. If you’re an Admin, you will totally get something out of this session. If you’re a Dev or an Architect, you will also get something out of this session. No matter your role, this session will be one that is worth checking out. In this session, Christine Marshall will give an overview of some tips that every Admin should know in 2022. These tips include learning Flow and using new report and dashboard features. Just to name a couple, there are three more on the list for you to hear at the event.

Migrating to Flow

For the first session on Flow to be featured in this list (of which there are 4), we look at a topic that is at the top of everybody’s mind right now … or at least it should be. That being the subject of migrating existing declarative automation from Workflow Rules and Process Builder into Flow. In this session, Daryl Moon of CertifyCRM will guide us through some talking points on this migration process and provide us with some best practice tips that will surely help you to not plan for a migration to Flow, but to do it successfully.

Skill Up with Trailhead and Build Your Personal Brand

Next up we have a session from Rohan Singh on personal branding. This is a very important topic in the Salesforce ecosystem, one that I have spoken on myself from time to time. In this session, Rohan will guide us through how to utilise and leverage Trailhead to help us build a killer personal brand. Rohan will also provide us with some guidance on how to build a compelling resume and a good quality presence in the world of social media through LinkedIn.

Choose Your Adventure: Creating Perfect Learning Journey

Next we have this session on crafting a learning journey. This session is being delivered by a good friend of mine in the Salesforce ecosystem and co-founder of Automation Dreamin’, Vicki Moritz-Henry. This is a subject Vicki has a great deal of knowledge and experience in given the progression that she has seen in the Salesforce ecosystem through her time at Supermums and in what she is doing now. This is a session I would highly recommend as you will get a ton out of it, and Vicki is a top-notch presenter as well. So do go and check it out.

Crafting a Salesforce Focused Resume

You’re probably noticing a bit of a theme with these last few sessions. That theme being personal branding and our learning journey. We continue that trend with this session from Megan Tuano focused on how we can craft a Salesforce-focused resume. This is a subject that will no doubt be relevant to many a Trailblazer, as if you’re anything like me, this is an area you try to steer a little bit away from. Writing resumes is hard after all. Well have no fear, Megan is great in this area and you will come away with some really good tips and knowledge on how to craft a good Salesforce-focused resume here.

Build Your Personal Brand in the Salesforce Ecosystem

Closing off this line of sessions focused on personal branding and learning, we have this session from David Nava. In this session, David will provide some best practice tips on how we can effectively build and maintain a compelling personal brand. David is a bit of an expert in this area as he hosts the Military Trailblazer Career Office Hours, something I’ve heard nothing but good things about. So this session would be very much worth you checking out.

Inside Every Salesforce Admin & Developer There’s a Hidden Architect

Next up we have a session from Francis Pindar on the Architect role. I have seen snippets of this session before at the London World Tour, however, this time around it appears that there is some difference here as that session focused on the Admin role and how in every Admin there’s a hidden Architect, this time around it includes Developers as well. The concept of this session is a very interesting one as it highlights where these roles intersect and the skills that you can bring to the table from the Architect skillset into your role as an Admin or Dev. If you’re someone who is potentially interested in moving into an Architect role sometime in the future, this session could be the one for you. Conversely, if you’re interested in how you can simply be a better Admin or Dev, then this session is most certainly applicable for you as well.

Invisible Screen Flows

Have you tried out invisible screen flows? If not, this session will be a great one for you to check out. The whole idea of an invisible screen flow is to add a screen flow to a Lightning Record Page that carries out a task that the user does not see or does not need to interact with. A good example of a use case for an invisible screen flow is tracking page views. In this session, the winner of FlowFest V1, Yumi Ibrahimzade will guide us through the process of creating invisible screen flows and examples of use cases for them.

Salesforce Flow Design Patterns — from Fundamentals to Mastery

Next we have the penultimate session on Flow in this list and oh boy is it a doozy of a topic. In this session Rakesh Gupta will guide us through the topic of Flow Design Patterns. This is a topic that I personally believe that every Admin should go out and learn as being a true Flownatic is not just about building Flows that work. It’s about building scalable and effective solutions through Flow. Design patterns is a key component to building up the skills of a prospective Flownatic and a Salesforce Admin. I would highly encourage any Salesforce Admin learning Flow check out this session, it will be worth it.

Why Do You Need CRM Analytics When You Have Salesforce Reports and Dashboards?

Changing gears from Flow for this session, we move to CRM Analytics. CRMA, previously known as Tableau CRM is a very cool and interesting product in Salesforce’s toolkit. That being said, it’s not something that is as widely used as the out-of-the-box reports and dashboards functionality you get when purchasing Salesforce, this is largely because of the costs associated with implementing CRM Analytics. In this session, Mark Tossell goes over this conversation topic and highlights the need to understand the differences between CRMA and Salesforce’s standard reporting functionality. If you’re interested in analytics as an Admin this session will be worth attending.

Admins — Learn to Leverage the Power of SOQL

One of the more possibly underutilised things in Salesforce within the Admin space is SOQL. SOQL (Salesforce Object Query Language) is a great way for Admins to easily find information within Salesforce. In this session, Louise Lockie will provide some tips and guidance on how Admins can really get to grips with and begin to use SOQL to aid them in their work. I’ve used SOQL from time to time myself … mainly for getting Custom Notification Ids for Flows. So this session is one I’m very much interested in myself.

Build Next Gen Custom Flow Screen Components with Custom Property Editor

Last but certainly not least, we have another session on Flow. This time, it’s a session from Narender Singh on how we can build heavily customisable Screen Components or Apex Actions in Flow. I have seen this session once before and it is a very interesting session to say the least. It is one of those sessions that is probably a bit more suited for a more advanced Admin. That being said, an Admin of any skill level with Flow can learn something from this session. So it’s one that I would recommend checking out if you can.

Closing Remarks

So that’s my list of sessions that I think are worth checking out at this year’s PakDreamin’ event. Like I said at the beginning of this post, this is not an extensive list of sessions, I did reduce this list to 13 sessions from an initial list of 20 sessions. Are you going to be attending PakDreamin? If so, what sessions are you looking forward to seeing? Let me know your thoughts below in the responses section or in the comments on social media where I share this post.
