The Five Elements! ❤
One of the most beautiful amalgamations in Mathematics…
An amazing ’equation’ by Leonhard Euler. . .
Phew!
At-last, I have been able to “write out” this gem, and thankfully, this time, not in a notebook in my scribbly hand-writing.
Please take a moment…to Behold the Beauty Below:
(Note to self: Nice alliteration there! ☺)
Just like the five cosmic elements of the Greeks (viz., Earth, Air, Fire, Water & Ether), or the ancient Indian system of seeing the Cosmos as being composed of Pancha-bhoothas (ಪಂಚಭೂತಗಳು in Kannada—see this link), this little equation, also known as Euler’s Identity, somehow manages to unite 5 beautiful “elements” in one single place, as listed below—
- Euler’s number e,
- A mysterious element i (square root of -1) from the Imaginary/Complex world(much like Ether, which was invisible & intangible),
- Unity (One—1),
- Nothingness (Zero — 0), and
- To top it all, a Pi, the transcendental number that makes the world & so many more things (g0) round! ☺
Really, an awe-inspiring beauty indeed! ❤ ☺
P.S.— Do YOU know of any other such beautiful unifications in Math, Physics, Art, Literature, or elsewhere?
If so, feel free to share it…!
