We hope you are enjoying the new Tipping feature on Raha! Reminder that starting on January 1 2019, the invite bonus will split from 60 Raha for the inviter to 30 Raha each for the inviter and new member.

At Raha we’re interested in making a new economic system where everyone can benefit. While we’re a long way away from the end goal of eliminating extreme poverty, it’s useful to compare how the income distribution of the bottom 50% of active Raha members compare to more conventional economies. Globally by market exchange rates, the bottom 50% of earners make only 6% of all income according to World Inequality Lab:

By comparison, last month the Raha Bottom 50% made about 30% of all Raha. If more big sellers join this bottom 50% share will decrease a lot, but we expect it to remain well above the 6% of classic economic systems. You can view the realtime metrics here.

You can’t use Raha to buy a world-class education or healthcare today, but you can use it for some electronics, chocolate, or English proof-reading on the Raha Marketplace. And we’re just getting started. If you know a business that would be interested in being part of a basic income movement by accepting Raha on a promotional basis, let us know!

Cheers,

Mark
