Yes, “Fear” Is the First Step To Success.

A boy once went crying to his grandfather, said that he was scared. When grandpa tried to enquire about what scared him, the boy couldn’t come up with an answer. What surprised the little one was that he was crying because of a feeling which he couldn’t trace down the origin of. His grand dad came up with a solution. “Son, do one thing. Here, I will put some black ink on your palms. The next time you see what scares you, just smear its face with this ink. That way you will be able to track what it was.” The boy, pacified with the idea went back to his room. The moment he entered the dark room he got scared and smeared his own face with the ink on his hands.

That’s the whole crux of the matter. What we fear is inside us. All we need to do is recognise our freak outs and work on them because they act like a barrier to what we want to achieve in life.

Our first take on fear is discomfort, pain, shock and our solution is running away from it. But we need to stop and ask ourselves if that’s the correct approach. Do we really need to abstain from it? Well if you’d like to know my opinion on this, I feel one should have a head on trial by combat with one’s fears. Unless you don’t fight with them, you are depriving yourself from a life most beautiful and most adventurous. Don’t want to die without exploring with the enshrouded happiness life can give you, or do you?

Fear comes in play because we always dream of what we want and picturise how happy we will be once we get it. The idea of the dream becoming a bane of our life never crops up and the day we start materialising our dreams is the day we come across all the trials and tribulations of the path to success. Result? Fear. Fear of crossing this path. Fear of being trapped somewhere in the middle and having to quit. Fear of being mocked at. Fear of failing. Fear of success.

You must now wonder why I mentioned fear of success. Success is the ultimate goal right? But why are these feelings behaving like some side actors trying to take up the entire space? These are the feelings that accompany a life of success and yet, these are the very feelings you relentlessly avoid!

Interesting how that works, right?

The most desirable possessions of a human being are wealth, incredible relationships and a happy mind, body and soul. Acquiring these things is not an arduous task, can be done with a barter. What lies beneath is the intensity with which you want them. That’s the strike.

What is mostly done with the feelings that give you discomfort is that they are strangled to death, never paid heed to, never fed. You misconceive and address them with a negative vibe. The idea is to welcome the feelings with open arms, face them, walk past them and enter a world of undying opportunities that will give you eternal happiness alongside the materialistic desires because my dear friend that’s when you reach the ultimate heaven- one which is denied to 99% of the population. Why? Because of the simple fact that they are hostage to their own emotions. Live your life and decide your terms. Abide by this- “If it’s to be, It’s upto me!” Rationality is the new trend.

Take A Stand

You have a vision and for that vision to come to reality you need to take a stand against all your apprehensions and do away with the ambiguity. You might not be in the pink of your moods for doing that but that’s the rough road you’ve got to take for self satisfaction of doing justice to your dreams and not letting fear envelope your heart and be a hindrance in your path.

If you follow suit and do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always got. What got you here, won’t land you where you intend to. For bold results, you need bold actions.

If you want it bad enough, your momentary feelings won’t stop you. How you feel right now is irrelevant. Of course it’s out of your comfort zone but that’s the knack isn’t it?

Take One Step At A Time

Life is all about experiments. A new day is a new experiment. This whole article too is an experiment. You are trying to discover. You might not always come up with something new but you might find a new way to look at what has already been explored. You need to be patient for that. The more frequently you can confront your fears and walk past the emotional blocks, the more successful you’ll be. You will be flabbergasted at the results and the bliss you will achieve. That will be the time to celebrate the fears that kept you going. Your brain and heart will act like the good and evil angels but when have these two been at par with each other? The crack is to find the equilibrium and lead on with a “Stop me if you can” smile.
