This publication is a safe space to express your grief over the loss of your beloved pets.

We sometimes are made to feel that we don’t have the right to feel intense grief over a loss of a pet… but we do.

Write it down, share it here, share it with everyone. We understand what you are going through.

Everyone is welcome and I will NOT edit your work. I want you to freely express yourself and give someone the comfort they need by reading your article… to know they are not alone. Please leave me a message below if you wish to submit an article. I will automatically add you as a writer.

Please note that you may be free to write anything, but it has to be related to this publication.

Thank you! Lots of love and hugs to you.

PHOTO SUBMISSION FOR MEMORIAL PHOTOS PAGE:

I am adding a MEMORIAL PHOTOS page to Rainbow Bridge. I have so many stories to share about Sushi but I seem to be having a hard time writing about her. We miss her terribly. I realized there a lot of people who also wants to share their stories, but couldn’t make themselves to write, so the memorial page of photos of our dear departed pets is there to honor them.

Please include your pet’s name as TITLE, and their birthday, and date of passing as SUBTITLE. Kindly add the tag MEMORIAL PHOTO to your submission. Thank you!

HOW THIS PUBLICATION STARTED:

This publication is dedicated to my dear, Sushi.

When Sushi passed away, I started looking for articles to read about pet grief. It was something new to me and I needed to understand what I was going through. I decided to write about what I was feeling and stumbled upon Medium (I read an article on a totally unrelated topic). I am no writer and I want a safe space where I can freely write. I am surrounded by people who do not understand pet loss and I was made to feel that whatever it was I was going through was not valid.

I learned that there are a lot of pet parents going through the same thing and I want to create a safe space for them. This publication is for anyone who needs to express their sorrow over the loss of their beloved pet.

This publication may have been prompted by my immense grief but this space is also open to anyone who wishes to share fond memories of their pets, how they coped and moved on.

I will not edit your work and anyone can submit stories. I want everyone to freely express themselves and give someone the comfort they need by reading their stories.

Big thanks to the contributing writers for sharing your pet’s love to us.

Rainbow Bridge
-Author Unknown

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth.
It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of all its beautiful colors.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows,
hills and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.
There is always food and water and warm spring weather.
The old and frail animals are young again.
Those who were sick, hurt or in pain are made whole again.
There is only one thing missing,
they are not with their special person who loved them so much on earth.
So each day they run and play until the day comes
when one suddenly stops playing and looks up!
The nose twitches! The ears are up!
The eyes are staring and this one runs from the group!
You have been seen and when you and your special friend meet,
you take him in your arms and hug him.
He licks and kisses your face again and again -
and you look once more into the eyes of your best friend and trusting
pet.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together never again to be apart.
