We’re excited to invite passionate parents/caregivers, educators, mental health professionals, and others to contribute to our publication, “Raising a Beautiful Mind.” Join us in creating a supportive community that focuses on raising children with mental health challenges.

Please review our writer’s guidelines below before requesting to write for us. Being added as an author does not guarantee your work will be published.

A few things to help you get started:

  1. If you do not have a Medium account, you need a free account to publish writing. If you would like to earn money from your writing, you need to have a $5/mo. paid Medium membership which you can get here. (The paid membership is NOT required to be a Raising a Beautiful Mind writer.)
  2. Please follow the publication before applying to write for us. We love to have writers following and supporting other Raising a Beautiful Mind writers.
  3. Complete super quick application. You will get a notification once I add you as a writer. At that point, you are welcome to submit any relevant pieces. We do not touch your work so please edit first.
  4. When your piece is a completed draft on Medium, click the three dots at the top of your piece, followed by add to publication, then Raising a Beautiful Mind. I am fairly quick at getting it added. Here is an article with a step-by-step with pictures.
  5. Share your published writing with the world. Your voice, story, expertise, and experiences are an absolute gift to others. We cannot reduce the stigma of mental health without your help, so please publish and share as you are able.
  6. Encourage people, especially parents/caregivers of children with mental health needs to follow Raising a Beautiful Mind. If you are on a paid membership each time we publish your piece the more followers we have, the more see it, rave about your genius and you get a few much deserved bucks.

Writer Guidelines:

1. Original Drafts:

Submit one article at a time, ensuring it’s a draft. We value authentic stories, experiences, and evidence-based strategies tailored to parents raising children with mental health challenges. No AI-generated content, please. Please make sure you edit and revise (Grammarly is free), because we don’t touch your content.

2. Visual Appeal:

Articles must include a picture at the top, as it enhances engagement. While some introductory text is acceptable, a picture is required to capture readers’ attention and improve readability.

3. Authenticity and Expertise:

Share your personal experiences, insights, and strategies that have worked for you and your child. Draw from your substantial expertise and lived experiences.

4. Trustworthy Content:

Demonstrate how your advice has positively impacted your child’s mental health journey. Include both successful and unsuccessful attempts, offering tips on implementation. We prefer content that isn’t just a ranting blog. You can definitely share frustration but share a little hope, strategy, or encouragement, too.

5. Broad Appeal and Length:

Ensure your article has broad appeal and can benefit a wide range of parents raising children with mental health challenges. Aim for a minimum length of 4 minutes or longer, providing in-depth discussion and practical insights.

6. Fresh Perspective:

Avoid repeating common advice and offer unique perspectives that bring fresh insights to our community. Share strategies and techniques that may not be widely known but have made a difference in your child’s life

Your voice and experiences matter in supporting parents raising children with mental health challenges. “Raising a Beautiful Mind” offers a platform to share your stories, evidence-based strategies, and empathic guidance. Submit your unpublished drafts, adhering to our guidelines once you are added as a contributing author.

Please review our writer’s guidelines before requesting to write for us. If you would like to write for us, simply leave a comment and we will add you within a few days. Being added as an author does not guarantee your work will be published.

You’re an amazing human. Thank you for taking the time to share your light with us.
