Healing Diaper Rash

A few weeks ago my daughter had really bad diaper rash that just regular diaper cream wasn’t seeming to treat. My daughter’s daycare teachers told me about a combination of creams that they had heard had worked for other parents, so I gave it shot. It worked wonders by the next day.

First, I applied a layer of A+D Zinc Oxide Diaper Rash Cream

and then a layer of Calmoseptine Ointment to Prevent & Heal Skin Irritations

.

So, I went alphabetically, A (A+D) then C (Calmoseptine).

I don’t know exactly why this combination worked, so if someone knows the science, I’d love to know why this works (or maybe the rash just happened to be healed about the time I started applying these). Both have zinc oxide as active ingredients like other creams, but they also include menthol and dimethicone.

I got both of these at a drugstore near me, so they should be easy to find near you, too. I had to ask the pharmacist if they had Calmoseptine, and they did have some behind the counter. I don’t know if it’s normally kept behind the counter or if they just didn’t have any stocked on the shelf right then. It doesn’t require a prescription, but you may have to ask for it if you don’t see it on the shelf
