When it comes to MMA fighter Conor McGregor, the only thing that might be more lethal than his lightning-fast hands and well-balanced offensive game, is his pre-fight (or post-fight) trash talk. The brashness, bravado, and boastful proclamations from McGregor are reminiscent of the late Muhammad Ali (whom McGregor has admitted to trying to emulate in this capacity). Some things he says are politically incorrect, some things he says are hilarious, some things he says are brutally true, and many of them are all of the above. In that light, here are 15 of McGregor’s best quotes during his professional fighting career.

These custom-made suits aren’t cheap. This solid gold pocket watch, three people died making this watch. I need to put people away. I need those big fights. I’m going to end up in debt pretty fast.

McGregor has always been known for his very expensive taste in clothing and accessories. That’s something he’s been indulging in since his early fighting days. Before his pay-per-view numbers really started exploding, he was already enjoying the “blingy” fruits of his labor.

I own this town, I own Rio de Janeiro, so for him to say that he is the king and I am the joker, if this was a different time, I would invade his favela on horseback, and would kill anyone who wasn’t fit to work. But we’re in a new time, so I’ll whoop his ass instead.

McGregor was slated to face Brazil-native José Aldo in the summer of 2015, and thus claimed ownership of the most well-known city in Aldo’s native country in a pre-fight press conference that took place in March of 2015.

“The left side of your face is drooping. I’m worried about you, honestly, I’m worried. I love you, I love you like my bitch. I just wanna make sure you’re okay. Get yourself medically tested because your face is drooping to the left.”

At the Go Big press conference in September of 2015, Conor McGregor unleashed some legendary trash talk at basically every figther on the UFC roster, including Jose Aldo. Commenting on the brutal fight that Aldo had against Chad Mendes, McGregor pretended to be concerned about Aldo’s welfare, before subsequently calling him his “bitch.”

“Because I change your bum life. I can make you rich. I can change your bum life. You fight me, it’s a celebration. When you sign to fight me, it’s a celebration, you ring back home, you ring, ‘Baby, we done it. We’re rich. Conor McGregor made us rich. Break out the red panties. We’re rich, baby.’”

At the same Go Big press conference, McGregor went after fighters like Rafael dos Anjos and Donald Cerrone, making light of the fact other fighters often have to find other streams of income to continue to pursue their MMA careers.

“The only weight I give a f — k about is the weight of them checks, and my checks are always super heavy. So I don’t give a s — t.”

There was some questions around McGregor, a lightweight, fighting against Nate Diaz, who was a welterweight (ie, heavier than McGregor). It was the first fight in which McGregor appeared in a welterweight bout. Clearly, the difference in weight classes didn’t phase McGregor all that much.

“It doesn’t matter what weight, divisions or anything, or even what belt is on the line. Because really I should create my own belt. Because I am, myself, my own belt. It doesn’t matter featherweight, lightweight, welterweight. It’s the McGregor belt.”

In the same conversation before UFC 194, in regards to the difference in weight classes between McGregor and Diaz, McGregor basically stated that he is a division all unto himself.

“I run New York City. I’m a f — -ing pimp.”

After arriving “fashionably” late — or, in McGregor’s own words: “I operate on my own time, and I’m running early on my time” — to the festivities inside the Theater at Madison Square Garden, during his comments to the press as part of the lead up to his UFC 205 fight against Eddie Alvarez, McGregor went ahead and declared him the proprietor of the most famous city in the world.
