“One should not attend even the end of the world without a good breakfast.”

― Robert A. Heinlein, Friday

The conventional belief system has led us all in the delusion that breakfast is a must and is vital for the start of the day, it was this lockdown when I was bent to think otherwise, when I skipped the wonder meal each day, every day. This provoked thought in my head what if breakfast was a myth? As a wonderful slave of 21-century tech, I did what I had too, I googled! And I was flooded with a plethora of information with or against the popular belief. So here I did my part for you, after going through a ton of data I came up with this which boils down to the following:

Origins (when did it even become a thing):

In modern times it all began with a campaign program of a prolific cereal brand founded by a deeply religious doctor John Harvey Kellogg and it became viral with a tagline “breakfast is the most important meal of the day” thousands of pamphlets were spread carrying an idea that shaped the modern world “breakfast”.

Historians believe that the modern era of breakfast begins with cereal, in historic times breakfast was not a thing!

Grey area:

We all love it, corporates love it even more! Before this campaign people usually ate leftovers from last night else some other local delights. The major idea behind this ideology was to hardwire the breakfast culture among the human race and sell a ton of mass-produced cereal products. Breakfast business as experts say became a go-to norm for food industries to thrive in the market, day by day they brought in millions of options to start your day with.

Polarisation:

well just like all things, we have two sides on this too! Many people love the idea of starting a day with a heavy breakfast whereas some feel otherwise. experts to have different opinions on the subject. some researched out a fact that people who ate breakfast have a 20% less chance of cardiac arrest and pre-diabetic conditions whereas other groups stated fasting in the morning can result in creative thoughts. On the whoever side, you are it’s just a hardwired fact that ain’t going to loosen its grip anytime soon. the entire industry relies on it.

Verdict:

At the end of the day, it all boils down to a simple thing, do what you love! Nothing different, if your body craves for it go for it otherwise fasting also benefits in way the filling up doesn’t it detoxifies?

An unpopular belief is having a different diet schedule results in better health since from early days when we used to live under rocks, food source was unpredictable also nobody had a diet plan. I can bet u can’t defeat an early man in a fistfight.

Take care to have a meal.
