- OnlyFans will prohibit its creators from posting sexually explicit content starting in October. The company explained that the decision was motivated by pressure from its payment partners. One of those payment partners, Visa, purchased a $150,000 CryptoPunk NFT this week to commemorate “a new era of NFT commerce.”
- Vox writer Beatrice Forman details the racial wealth gap that exists within the creator economy, fueled by inequality in access to industry knowledge.
- Launch House, a private community for creators to access events and resources, raised a $3 million seed round to expand its digital and physical presence.
- I pledge allegiance to… influencers! Government branches from the White House to local elected officials are tapping social media influencers to fight COVID-19 vaccine misinformation.
- Stepping away from the creator economy, one of the most interesting stories in DeFi history came to a happy conclusion this week. The hacker who siphoned $600 million from cross-chain project Poly Network two weeks ago returned the final installment of the stolen funds (minus $33 million in frozen USDT).
