New Creators

Robert DeLong/ $RDL

Los Angeles-based electronic musician, Robert DeLong, mixes dance music with his own singer/songwriter style of craftsmanship. Utilizing MIDI interfaces and mixing live while he performs, DeLong plays keyboards, drum pads, drum set, laptops, and even gaming controllers to create his songs. He debuted on the Billboard dance charts with his first full-length release, 2013’s Just Movement, and has continued to expand his approach on albums like 2015’s, ‘In the Cards’ and 2018’s, ‘See You in the Future.’ In 2020, he paired with Ashe for the track, “Better in College” and is gearing up to release new music in 2021!

Project News

Last week, Rally was at NFT.NYC giving away commemorative NFTs in a collaboration with artist Shantell Martin ($WHO).

Tam Gryn, Rally’s Director of Fine Arts, gave a talk at the conference on the aesthetics of NFTs. If you missed it, be sure to join our community call (add to calendar here) this Friday at 11 a.m. PT/ 2 p.m. ET to hear her talk!

Industry News

The K-pop mega group BTS could be issuing NFTs soon, as its label Big Hit has acquired a stake in Korea’s largest crypto exchange, the Financial Times reported. The label says it plans to mint NFTs with the help of the exchange, UpBit.

Facebook is helping creators bypass Apple’s fees with its Fan Subscription product, TubeFilter reported. It’s directing creators to its own payment processor instead of Apple’s App Store, meaning creators save 30% on fees. Facebook claims it won’t take a cut.

Twitter is boosting its Spaces social audio product, with direct access even without a Twitter account, Techcrunch reported. Creators will be able to share links to a Spaces, and fans without Twitter will still be able to listen in. In theory, this opens up Spaces to a much wider audience, putting it on par with streaming sites like YouTube.

Clubhouse is going global with 13 new languages, Techcrunch reported. The app that arguably kicked off the social audio trend is going to be available in French, German, Hindi, Bahasa Indonesia and more. This localizes the app for some of the most populous countries in the world.

Social token platform Chingari raised $40 million for its GARI token as it aims for adoption among India’s creators, the Economic Times reported. The Solana based platform is trying to fill a vacuum for creators and fans after TikTok was banned in the country.

Social token incubator Seed Club has opened registration for its first Demo Day. Investors will be able to preview projects incubated by the organization for the first time.
