Ramadan 3–2–1: Day One — Intention
As Salam Alaykum, welcome to Ramadan 1444H
Alhamdulillah! If you’re reading this, trust me you’re blessed. It means you are one of many specially chosen to witness Ramadan 1444H. Some intended to but they’re six feet under the ground. May Allah forgive our dead and have mercy on the living.
This year, we’re continuing our partnership with Dhikr Posters to bring you the best daily inspiration as always. The posters will serve as prompts for the daily doses in sha Allah. Feel free to download and circulate. You can also visit their Etsy store to support their work.
By Allah’s mercy this year, we’ve launched a special publication for Ramadan called “Ramadan Musings”. Here you’d find our Ramadan reminders moving forward. May Allah accept it from us and make it beneficial to humanity.
The theme for the maiden edition is tagged: “Ramadan 3–2–1”. There will be 3-lessons we can derive from a daily topic, 2-evidence from the Qur’an or Sunnah, and 1 rhetorical question to assess where you are. Let’s go there…
3 Derivable Lessons
- For every act of worship, your intention should be solely for the sake of Allah Alone.
- Don’t do things for the sake of praise or blame from the people.
- The intention is more important than the action. A right intention even when not perfectly executed can lead to an accepted deed. While a wrong intention excellently executed may lead to wasted efforts.
2 Pieces of Evidence
Allah says:
Say: “Verily, my prayer,my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for Allah, the Lord of the worlds– Qur’an 6[Al-An’am]:162
The Prophet PBUH said:
There are three traits by which the heart of a Muslim will not be deceived (or consumed by hatred): sincere deeds for Allah, offering goodwill to the leaders of the Muslims, and keeping to their community. — [At-Tirmidhi]
1 Rhetorical Question
Always ask yourself: “Am I doing what I’m doing solely for the sake of Allah?” If yes, ride on. If no, purify and redefine your intention.
That’s it for today and I hope you find it beneficial. Catch you tomorrow by the mercy of Allah. And until then, keep striving to be the best of yourself.
