optimism

optimism is bright yellow sun and light blue sky that stretches on forever. optimism smells like you’re standing in an endless field of flowers, and because you’re optimistic, you choose to ignore the bees.

optimism is searching for a patch of sunlight after a heavy storm. it tells you, “go on, just a little bit further, maybe around that corner? I’m sure it’s here.”

and at long last, you find it.

optimism holds your hand as you step into the sunlight, warming your face and heart and soul. optimism smiles at you so genuinely and purely that you can’t help but feel like you can do anything, and you’re so happy to be alive.

then it points.

“look up,” it says. “look at that rainbow overhead.”
