The Haunted House
The Full Story
The house at the end of the street is haunted. Its dark paint stands in stark juxtaposition against the blue sky. The roof is one storm away from collapsing, and several shingles litter the ground. Steps leading up to the house are broken and jagged, creating a menacing smile to anyone who looks its way. The vines climbing up the side of the house are sharps as razors. There are whispers that children who go inside the house never come out. Billy at school said that his older sister’s boyfriend’s little brother went inside the house.
And never came back out.
I tried to tell my parents that the house was haunted. That at night, the house comes alive, and ghosts drift through, causing the old house to creak and moan. They laugh at me, saying that no one has lived in the house for years. They claim the last person to live there was a nice old lady with cats who left with her daughter to live in the city.
