The story begins with Rooh:
But to be driving that cursed vehicle was just one part of it all. It was just a toe of Katyayani’s foot. He knew he was the reason, the source of Rooh’s pain. If only he had wished, if only he had the self-control, he could have saved her from at least a part of what she suffered. If only… But all was meaningless now!
No matter how much he may have tried to forget that accursed day, no matter how much he may have tried to be with her and loved her, he could do it no longer. He could not run away from that past which stood facing him; haunting him no end. He had to say it, to confess his sins… He wouldn’t be able to rest until then. But HOW? How could he even think about losing Rooh whom he loved more than his Life? His Life, to save which, he could not but… If only, he had chosen to die on that fateful day, instead of… giving in… to his… starvation!
