Becoming a Rangers Protocol Node: What Rewards Do You Get?
Nodes produce blocks to obtain corresponding rewards. $RPG holders can participate in the governance process and receive higher APR benefits.
In the previous article, we mentioned that the proposal and verification nodes receive corresponding block rewards after producing blocks. In this article, we will elaborate on the nodes’ rewards mechanism.
Due to the different functions of the proposal and verification nodes in generating blocks, their reward mechanisms are also different.
First, users need to stake a certain amount of $RPG to be eligible to become any node. At this stage, the difference is that the minimum stake amount of the proposal node is 1250 $RPG, and the verification nodes need to stake at least 250 $RPG. After obtaining the qualification, you can enter the following block production process. The specific procedure has been described in detail in the previous article.

After the block is produced, the proposal group will receive 35% of the total block reward. The proposal node that produces the block will individually receive 10.5% of the entire block reward. All nodes in the proposal group distribute the remaining 24.5% according to the nodes’ $RPG stake ratio. The verification group will receive 14% of the total block reward. All nodes in the verification group will distribute the rewards according to the nodes’ $RPG stake ratio.
Please note that no matter whether it is a proposal or a verification node, the $RPG cannot be unlocked during the period from stake to block reward distribution. It would help if you waited about 10 hours after the node reward was issued to unlock and receive $RPG. In addition, each node can only stake once in each block distribution cycle.
After obtaining $RPG, you can choose to continue holding $RPG and participate in the governance process such as voting, elections, experience the Rangers Protocol-based dapps, or use the $RPG held as a gas fee. For instance, we will deploy the GameFi blockchain game DeHero, ranked second among all blockchain games on September 22, on the Rangers Protocol mainnet. Or, of course, you can also directly participate in the transaction in the secondary market. However, the former is strongly recommended.
Here is an ARP formula that can directly tell you the rate of return of holding $RPG:
APR ≈ Current release amount / (average stake amount of each proposal node*number of proposal nodes)*(1+0.92)*100%
Daily release amount = current release amount / 180 days
First, let’s take the proposal node as an example. The first-phase annualized income is calculated as follows:
Current release = 588,000 RPGs (calculated based on 8% of the remaining release in each phase, the proportion of proposal nodes is 35%)
The average stake amount of each proposal node = 10,000 RPG
Number of proposal nodes = 20
APR≈588000 / (10000*20) * 1.92*100%= 564.48%
This means that if you become a proposal node, your daily annualized rate of return can be as high as:
ARP/365 ≈ 1.55%
Next, let’s take a look at the verification nodes’ first phase of the annualized rate of return:
Current release amount = 235,200 RPGs (calculated based on 8% of the remaining amount released in each phase, and the proportion of verification nodes is 14%)
Average stake amount per verification node = 1000 PRG
Number of verification nodes = 200
APR≈235200 / (1000*200) * 1.92*100%=225.79%
This means that if you become a validator, your daily annualized rate of return can be as high as:
ARP/365 ≈ 0.62%
