Last week, Rangers Protocol announced the first CEX listing of its ecosystem token Rangers Protocol Gas (RPG) on BitWell, making the token more accessible to the public on top of its previous DEX listings on PancakeSwap and Uniswap.

Usage Scenarios

Economy Participants

The above discussed token circulation among developers and users for applications or services on Rangers Protocol are just two usage scenarios of RPG as the gas fees or usage fees for two groups of participants in the Ranger Protocol economy system, and there are more.

When using Rangers Protocol-based tools to publish, edit, and upload works onto the blockchain, or conducting marketing activities in application markets such as decentralized trading markets, auction markets, and copyright centers, creators need to pay or consume RPG as usage fees or gas fees.

Infrastructure Scenarios

As mentioned earlier, RPG generates blocks through ecological nodes which consist of proposal nodes and verification nodes. Ecosystem users either pay RPG as a deposit and become proposal nodes through community voting, or purchase and stake RPGs to become verification nodes following the purchasing and staking mechanism.

Governance Scenarios

What’s more, the RPG Foundation gets to establish communities with different functions, serving ecosystem governance, developer, token holders, and more. Each community can participate in the governance of Rangers Protocol using RPG.

Sub-chain Scenarios

Shortly, Rangers Protocol will launch a sub-chain plan to support developers in releasing sub-chains homogeneous to Rangers Engine, which will be allowed to issue tokens in the format of RAP20. The launches of such sub-chains will require community voting using RPG.

Where do the values of RPG come from?

To answer this question, we need to know how to acquire RPG in the first place and understand its appreciation logic.

Acquisition Scenarios

By participating in the block production process, both the proposal node candidates and the verification node candidates can receive RPG rewards.

Through delegating tokens to certain nodes, token holders can indirectly participate in network construction and obtain RPG rewards for the fact that such delegation helps improve the security of the network.

Winning users or teams in the development competitions, game contests, and other activities regularly held by the RPG Foundation can directly receive RPG as rewards, with their applications being further incubated into commercial dApps by the Foundation.

Applications in the Rangers Protocol ecosystem are also encouraged to give out RPGs as rewards to users for certain behaviors.

Appreciation Logic

70% of RPG tokens are either generated with block generation by proposal nodes (35%) and verification nodes (14%) or unlocked with block generation by the core team (14%) and incubator (7%). 8% of the remaining amount is released every 180 days. The overall token production is reduced by 50% every four years in a smooth production decline curve.

The governance of RPG tokens adopts the Random PoS mechanism, meaning that the prerequisite for being proposal or verification nodes is to stake a certain amount of RPG and that these nodes, as candidate nodes, will then be chosen for block generation on a purely random basis. During the period from staking to block reward distribution, RPG stays locked till all node rewards are issued (10 hours). The mechanism reduces the instantaneous inflation rate of RPG and further ensures the slow release of RPG tokens.
