9 Highlights of the 76th Emmy Nominations
This morning at 8:30 AM PDT/11:30 AM EDT, Emmy winners Sheryl Lee Ralph (Abbott Elementary) and Tony Hale (Veep) and Television Academy Chris Abrega announced the nominations in the top categories for the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards in a presentation that was streamed live.
As I mentioned in my article previewing and predicting this year’s Emmy nominations, the combination of the seismic changes in the television and streaming industry in recent years combined with the significant production delays caused by the Actors’ and Writers’ strikes were certain to result in unprecedented turnover in the major categories. And that’s exactlyw hat we saw this morning.
Below I highlight some of the most notable trends and themes of this year’s Emmy nominations. Given the gigantic number of categories, I have certainly missed a few interesting tidbits and I opted not to list out all of the major nominations. (I recommend finding the nominations on the Emmys official website, where there are tons of different options to sort through them.)
